Network Administrator

Roles/Responsibilities: 

Provides operations and maintenance support to United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Component Network Control Center (CNCC).  The primary function is to provide Tier 1 support to Army SOF users, report incident status and updates to the USASOC A6 staff, and coordinate resolutions among applicable support organizations; including the USSOCOM Global Network Control Center (GNCC)

•  Network systems monitoring, tier-1 management/troubleshooting, incident tracking and coordination, and reporting (e.g., performance, problem, change capacity, security)

•  Analyze, administer and maintain voice, video, and/or data communications networks

•  Tracking, reporting, and notification of significant Headquarters event(s) and activities as directed.

•  Assist with the development of briefing products and materials for presentation to senior leadership

•  Coordinating, scheduling, and reporting of network and communications maintenance activities (e.g. Authorized Service Interruptions) affecting customer networks worldwide

•  Monitoring, management, troubleshooting, technical advisement, and reporting status of Customer Program of Record systems (e.g. SDN-L/M/H, SCAMPI, SOFTACS, TACLAN)

•  Participate in customer exercises (e.g., COOP, network vulnerability, "red team/blue team", etc.

Qualifications/Education requirements:  

  • Active DOD Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI
  • DoD 8570 Certification - Security+ or CCNA Security (may obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
  • Works shifts in 24/7 work center
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in the LAN/WAN administration
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support of routers and switches
  • Demonstrated proficiency of layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing
  • Familiarity with military deployed and tactical communication environments

Preferred Skills:  

  • ITIL v3 Foundations certification 
  • Working knowledge of SCAMPI equipment, SDN-L/M gateways, and network encryption devices. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in EIGRP, STP, VTP, ACLs, and Layer 3 tunnels and understand how to monitor network
  • Demonstrated proficiency in firewall and boundary protection device operations and administration
  • Strong troubleshooting background in networking and communications equipment
  • Tech Control skills
  • Strong communication skills (written & oral)
  • Ability to deal with customers at all levels in stressful situations
  • Ability to prioritize and dynamically re-task response and recovery actions as situations change
  • Recent experience with military cryptographic equipment
