Senior Network Management Administrator

The Software/Systems Architect, Sr. will provide engineering and O&M support of a large scale enterprise environment. Must be able to evaluate, design, troubleshoot and implement solutions, as well as provide some lower tier support to solve complex issues and make recommendations on best practices. The person will support projects in various stages of planning for, using, testing and implementing Riverbed monitoring solutions. This includes writing engineering documentation, presentations and policies, and being a source for answering questions and providing training. The resource should also have integration experience with publishing Riverbed monitoring suite events into other non-Riverbed operational tools from vendors like HP and CA. A person with well-developed writing and interpersonal skills are a must. Significant experience with large Riverbed NetShark enterprise installations

Roles/Responsibilities:

* Provide professional-level technical analysis including:

  1. Perform needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions.
  2. Conduct business process engineering.
  3. Gather, describe and document functional and system requirements using processes and methods in a broad range of IT activities and in-depth analysis of IT issues as necessary.
  4. Define system scope and objectives.
  5. Develop cost estimates for new and modified systems.
  6. Consider risks and assumptions.
  7. Conduct feasibility studies and trade-off analyses. Analysis must be completed in the context of local, national and federal architectural standards. 

* Prepare business cases for the application of IT solutions.

* Ensure the integration of all systems components, e.g., procedures, databases, policies, software, and hardware; planning systems implementation.

* Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the systems analysis process.

* Function as a systems analyst/solution architect on various VA projects.

* Meet with customers, VA technical staff and management through in-person and remote settings.

* Present information formally and informally, including business cases, systems designs, technology briefings and training to a variety of audiences.

* Use CDCO currently installed version of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint and other CDCO currently supported tools to document deliverables, as necessary. This might include specific configuration instructions, specifications, hardware and software requirements, implementation plans, version description, interface requirements/guide, administrative support guide, troubleshooting guides, user/analyst guide and physical and logical layer diagrams as necessary.

* Use the standard CDCO change management system to obtain new work assignments, update status and store work products as necessary.

Qualifications/Education requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or business related field preferred
  • 10+ years senior-level experience with CA NetQos Administration
  • 3+ years senior-level experience with Riverbed suite
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of WAN protocols and technologies such as MPLS, IS-IS, Multi-VRF, etc
  • Must have knowledge of Riverbed NetShark and NetProfiler implementations, configuration, usage, and data collection (flow and packet) best practices.
  • Experience with Product Engineering, including designing and integrating emerging technologies
  • Experience with Riverbed Transaction Analyzer (OPNET ACE/ATX), Wireshark, or another network protocol analyzer that provides visibility at the packet layer
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and using packet analysis to diagnose application performance issues

Preferred Skills: 

  • Industry certification such as CCNA, JNCIA, etc
  • Experience working in a large, enterprise environment
  • Experience with Riverbed AppResponse  and Transaction Analyzer a plus and really anything under the SteelCentral suite.
  • Experience providing support at any tier
  • Understanding of network capacity planning
  • Experience generating various documents including CONOPS, design documents, test plans, engineering
  • Experience with third party integration
  • Knowledge of and hands on use of Riverbed integration API.
